Sharjah 24: Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), stressed the importance of addressing the issue of sustainability at the Sharjah International Travel and Tourism Forum, as the Emirate of Sharjah has a long tradition in sustainability.
Al Qaseer confirmed that the Sharjah International Travel and Tourism Forum is growing year after year, and the current session focused on sustainability, which is a topic close to our hearts in the Emirate of Sharjah.
He added to “Sharjah 24” that the Emirate of Sharjah has a great contribution to the issue of sustainability, and the development of sustainable projects through the combined efforts of various bodies, and today, we are talking about environmental, archaeological and heritage tourism.
He pointed out that the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority is developing many projects, including archaeological tourism, the most important of which is the Mleiha Archaeological Tourism Project, which includes antiquities dating back 120,000 years.
Al Qaseer indicated that the second phase of the Kingfisher Lodge project in Kalba was announced. The project included 20 environmentally friendly rooms consisting of tents, and there is great cooperation with the Environment and Protected Areas Authority to determine the locations of the tents and the type of possible agriculture, because this area has beautiful natural diversity, and it has mangrove trees, various birds and turtles; and there will be 20 additional rooms, which will raise the total number of environmentally friendly rooms to 40. He added that the additional rooms will be operational at the beginning of December. He further added that yesterday, the Rahal project was announced in Kalba and will be ready by the end of next year.
