Sharjah24: Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) wrapped up its participation in the second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC), which was organized by The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and the Emirates News Agency (WAM), with the participation of an elite group of media industry leaders, specialists and global influencers, in addition to academics, youth and university students.
The third day's sessions, hosted by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau on its platform, covered a variety of topics, including the role of the media in supporting social issues, the responsibility of media professionals in disseminating uplifting messages, the significance of journalistic ethics, contemporary media trends, and the role of images in embodying stories and communicating ideas.

Challenges and opportunities
His Excellency Mohammed Ghanem, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Broadcasting Corporation - Ambassador of the Global Media Congress, discussed in his session “Media between the Past and the Present” the challenges and opportunities that arise as a result of the rapid development of social media, and the impact of social media on directing media messages and interacting with the public, pointing to the use of AI in the media sector, which offers a unique chance to investigate the expanding interplay between media and technology across a range of domains.

Ghanem discussed significant issues and changes in the media, the role of artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, creative ways to overcome challenges and improve digital media, and the collaboration of people and technology to create and improve media. Ghanem also brought up the difficulties of upholding media ethics and quality in light of artificial intelligence technology.


The significance of the images 
 In his presentation, "When the Image Tells the Story," Saud Zamzam, Head of the Photography Department at the SGMB, stressed the significance of images in the media, their ability to effectively communicate ideas and information as a potent tool for influence and communication, and the impact of  technology like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and augmented reality in creating images.


The session covered a number of other topics, including the ethics of the media image in the digital age, the impact of recent changes on the ability to distinguish between authentic and fake images, the reality of the media image in the digital age, and the new opportunities that contemporary technologies offer to media institutions in terms of producing images and influencing public opinion.

School of Media
Lina Jaradat, Head of the Media Content Department at the Sharjah Government Media Bureau , reviewed the first interventions made by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, during the Direct Line program. The Direct Line program airs on the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and serves as a media and ethical school to highlight the role of media to address social issues.

During her session titled “My Press Observations,” she stressed the importance of the proposals of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, including the phrases and words used by His Highness to be included in the journalistic dictionary, as they constitute a professional and humanitarian guide for media work, pointing to the work steps and the various press experiences she had that contributed to enriching her media experience to pass it on to students and trainees.


The new generation
The “Media Trends of the New Generation” session discussed the media opportunities provided by modern technologies for youth and young people, the contributions of these technologies to enriching media content, their implications for building the future skills required of the new generation, identifying the media trends of tomorrow’s generations and their future perceptions, in order to come up with a comprehensive vision that contributes to developing and renewing media work.
The session was moderated by Muhammad Omran, a programmer and presenter at the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, with the participation of a number of graduates of the Ithmaar training program organized by the Sharjah Press Club including Naima Obaid Al Ali, Tabarak Alla Reda, and Majd Muhammad Al Khayal.


The Sharjah Government Media Bureau, within its participating platform in the second edition of the Global Media Congress, reviewed its most prominent initiatives and outputs in the media and government communication sectors, and other topics that align with the Congress’s proposals which were discussed within 16 various working sessions.
