Sharjah24: The Sharjah Literary Agency (SLA), has unveiled an exciting collaboration with the prominent Libyan novelist Ibrahim Al-Koni, which entails SLA as his exclusive literay agency in all languages worldwide. The prolific writer is the first intellectual in the agency’s portfolio.
This landmark agreement, inked during the 42nd edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), underscores SLA's dedication to facilitating communication among authors, publishers, translators, and creatives. Operating within legal and professional frameworks, the agency ensures that authors and publishers gain better exposure and can expand their outreach. SLA also seeks to revitalise the publishing market and promote content exchange across diverse global languages.
Commenting on signing with the prolific Libyan author, Tamer Said, Director of SLA, said: "With more than 90 books and 15 international awards, we welcome the influential contemporary writer to be the first name on our list of authors. The new partnership embodies his trust in the SLA, which will manage his literary rights and represent him in all global markets in various languages. This is a significant stride towards transforming Arabic into audiovisuals formats to appeal to a broader audience”.
The prolific Libyan writer has authored more than 90 books across various genres, translated into over 40 languages. Al Koni, a prominent contemporary Arab novelist and Nobel Prize in Literature nominee, was recognised by French Lire Magazine as one of the top 50 global novelists. He has garnered acclaim from cultural, critical, academic, and official circles worldwide, earning over 15 regional and international awards, including the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2006, the Swiss State Award in 2005, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award in literature in the second edition, and the Mondello Prize in 2019.
