World Disability Union honours AccessAbilities Expo

Sharjah 24: The Regional Office of the World Disability Union granted the AccessAbilities Expo, the largest event for people of determination, a certificate of accreditation as a people with disabilities-friendly entity, applying the highest global environmental standards for the disabled.
Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadem, Vice President of the World Disability Union and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Althiqah Club for the Disabled in Sharjah, honoured the AccessAbilities Expo and handed over a certificate of accreditation as an entity implementing global environmental standards for the disabled. 

The certificate and shield of honour were received by Ghassan Suleiman, CEO of Nad Al Sheba Company for Organising Conferences and Exhibitions and the organiser of the AccessAbilities Expo.
Dr. Tariq Sultan Bin Khadim expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the management of the exhibition, which is one of the most important international exhibitions, organised to serve people with disabilities, and gained universality through the major companies that join this exhibition annually. 

Dr. Tariq Sultan Bin Khadim appreciated companies’ great role in providing disabled-friendly environments, pointing out that the great interest being achieved in providing a decent life for the disabled stems from the interest of the wise leadership of the UAE and the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who has given people with disabilities much attention and rights through legislation. 

Bin Khadem added that with the spread of the culture of friendly environments for people with disabilities, adopted by the UAE government through many projects to improve services, it was necessary to bring services together under one umbrella. 

Dr. Tariq Sultan Bin Khadim noted that the World Disability Union sought to conform standards to the highest international standards. 

In the same context, Haider Talib Arbi, Secretary-General of the World Disability Union and Chairman of the Evaluation Committee, confirmed that the aim of this certificate, granted to different entities and institutions, is to set global standards and standard specifications that all public institutions and facilities must adhere to, in order to provide a high-end service that allows easy integration of people with determination and a high-end service that meets their needs easily to enjoy their lives without obstacles.
