Sharjah 24: Sharjah Foundation to Support Pioneering Entrepreneurs (RUWAD), affiliated to Sharjah Economic Development Department, held a 3-day training programme entitled “Supply Chain Management and Logistics”, at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park. 28 participants participated in the programme, with the aim of introducing small business owners and entrepreneurs to the skills of managing supply chains, and how to make them more efficient in the production and delivery of goods and services to customers.
His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Director of RUWAD, stressed that the training programme topic was selected due to the importance of successful and effective supply chain management in enabling project owners and entrepreneurs to adapt to the constantly changing business environment to maintain its continuity and prosperity, while simultaneously increasing efficiency and reducing costs, to prioritise the supply chain by responding to customer needs accurately and quickly, regardless of the field in which the company or project operates.
During the training program, Abdullah Al Atar Al Dhanhani, expert in project management and development, discussed the concept of logistics and supply chain management, as one of the most important management skills at the level of projects and businesses.
Al Dhanhani gave a detailed explanation about the diversity of the source of feeding these chains, and their importance in managing commercial flows of all kinds. He also presented some elements that must be taken into account in managing supply chains, such as competitive prices, developing a more proactive supply strategy, crisis management, enabling strategic inventory, and understanding alternatives
Waleed Al Amiri, Emirati entrepreneur residing in China, spoke remotely through “Zoom”, about his personal experience in managing supply chains from the source, and revealed to the participants some of the secrets of shipping, costs, guarantees, mechanisms for obtaining reduced prices, as well as ways to speed up the supply process, inventory management and chain segmentation. He also presented a model for supplying production lines to support local industries.
The training programme, which constitutes a continuation of RUWAD's approach to developing capabilities of entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises, saw a remarkable interaction from the participants, who acquired more skills in supply chains management, and learned about the importance of continuing the flow of information, resources, services and products across international trade lines to keep pace with the future demand for their services and products.
