Sharjah 24: Every year, Emirati Women's Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the qualitative achievements and contributions of Emirati women to economic, social and cultural development.
This comes under the theme "We Collaborate for Tomorrow" to emphasise the importance of all programmes and initiatives for women strengthening their partnership in all sectors, especially those that in the past posed a challenge to women's participation.
In this context, the Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) is keen to make the continuous increase in women's participation in non-traditional sectors, which previously posed a challenge to their comprehensive contributions, a major focus in its programmes and initiatives, succeeding in making qualitative differences in the volume of women's contributions in these sectors.
In more than 37 economic sectors, the SBWC contributed to supporting its affiliates in their chosen specialisations, which varied between the automotive and aerospace sectors, as Emirati women entrepreneurs overcame challenges and exceeded the limits of creativity in leading these modern sectors.
Emirati women have excelled in the most vital sectors, such as the health sector, by managing successful clinics and health centres, as well as making many tangible contributions in the construction, education and information technology sectors, in addition to e-commerce and mobile technology.
The growing partnership of women in all sectors has strengthened the performance of the local economy, through the establishment of strategic partnerships in various economic sectors, focusing on developing their businesses by acquiring new skills and joining the pioneering programmes organised by the SBWC.
The number of SBWC’s members reached more than 2,000 members, 1,200 of whom are Emirati women, reflects the clear imprint left by the SBWC’s women on the business world, as they run already stable businesses and companies, in a way that enhances the vision of the UAE in empowering Emirati women, and making them an inspiring model for all women.
This great social change would not have taken place had it not been for the belief of the UAE government and its society in the potential of women, and had it not been for the significant role of institutions that support their journey and facilitate their access to success.
