Sharjah24 - AFP: On Wednesday (July 12), tornadoes and thunderstorms tore over the greater Chicago region, prompting O'Hare and Midway airports to suspend all aviation operations, according to officials, as tornado sirens resounded throughout the third-largest city in the United States
At least eight tornadoes touched down in four counties in northeastern Illinois, including four in Cook County, home to Chicago. The storms left tree and roof damage in several residential areas, including in the towns of Huntley and Hodgkins.
All departures of commercial flights into O'Hare and Midway were grounded, and outgoing flights from the two airports were delayed, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration reported.
There were no immediate reports of serious injuries.
