Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) organised, on Sunday, a race to celebrate the Global Running Day at Al Hira Beach in Sharjah, with the participation of 600 male and female participants from 34 nationalities and different age groups, and all participants were honoured with commemorative medals.
The event was attended by Ahmed Al Salman, Head of the Community Initiatives and Events Section at the Department of Sports and Community Events, and Bakhit Saeed Al Quras, Director of the Office of the Chairman of the SSC.
The Sports and Community Events Department of the SSC praised the success of the event, and the concerted efforts between the SSC and the entities and institutions.
The Global Running Day was celebrated to support the culture of sports as a way of life, and to encourage the Emirate's residents and expatriates to practice running as the easiest and best sport in burning calories and raising fitness levels in order to preserve public health.
