Sharjah24: With the theme "Culture of Urbanism and Resilience of Heritage," the Fourth Arab Forum for Cultural Heritage (AFCH) was organised in conjunction with the Sharjah Institute for Heritage and the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO). The forum was led by Dr Zaki Aslan, Director of the Regional Centre for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage in the Arab World (ICCROM, Sharjah).
Aslan noted in statements to "Sharjah 24" that the forum features the insights of nearly 50 experts and thinkers from the Arab world and Western countries and focuses on topics including the culture of urbanisation and the unwavering preservation of heritage, conflicts involving the destruction of heritage, the loss of many heritage places as a result of climate change, and other developments taking place in this part of the world.
He said that the forum's discussions had touched on the United Arab Emirates' hosting of the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 28) and that it had provided valuable insights into how to adapt to climate change via field trips and research conducted by ICCROM and other regional institutions.
