Sharjah 24: Adding to its extensive collection of awards, Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) has been awarded the 2023 Dubai Quality Gold Award. The accolade is organised by the Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Adopting a culture of continuous development and outstanding performance
During a virtual ceremony held in the presence of over 1,000 people, Sharjah Islamic Bank was honoured for applying the criteria stipulated in the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), Excellence Model of the Dubai Quality Award. The SIB was praised for adopting a culture of continuous development and outstanding performance.
The awards aim to improve the quality and productivity of existing companies in the UAE by promoting service excellence. In addition, it encourages a spirit of competitiveness between various business sectors, industries and local and international brands.
Banking service excellence, innovation and easy solutions
His Excellency Mohamed Abdalla, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, said: “We are pleased to have won the Dubai Quality Gold Award, which supports the SIB’s successful journey and reflects our commitment to achieving the highest standards of excellence for our customers. We constantly strive to adopt many initiatives that enhance customer services and provide innovative and easy solutions, using the latest technologies and secure solutions.”
His Excellency Mohamed Abdalla indicated that the award resulted from continuous effort and institutional teamwork, which he accredited to every employee, trainee, bank official and worker. He said: "Applying the best standards of innovation and excellence enables us to win more awards across various sectors to benefit the bank, its status and reputation."
Prestigious awards in recognition of innovative solutions and outstanding services
The SIB won the Dubai Service Excellence Programme Award for 2021 as the best-performing brand in the service sector. It picked up the same award for the social media category in 2020, and the service sector category in 2019. The achievements of the prestigious awards confirm the bank’s continuous approach to enhancing quality and excellence to achieve further growth and development in the banking sector. The SIB has also received numerous awards for its innovative solutions and distinguished services over the past years.
Establishing quality standards and adopting a policy of institutional excellence
In addition, the Dubai Quality Award was launched in 1994 to encourage and motivate companies and institutions to establish quality standards and adopt a policy of institutional excellence under the excellence model approved by the European Foundation for Quality Management. It honours distinguished institutions for their services, providing them with a roadmap to achieve excellence through adopting best practices and well-founded curricula that are systematically and continuously measured and reviewed. It is divided into four categories: Dubai Quality Appreciation Award, Dubai Quality Award, Dubai Quality Gold Award, and Dubai International Quality Award.
