Sharjah 24 – BNA: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, expressed profound concern over the escalation and military clashes between the armed military forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the Republic of Sudan.
Al Buadaiwi called on all political leaders in the country for calm and restraint, urging to give priority to the language of dialogue and the voice of wisdom.  He also called to unite ranks in a way that contributes to reach further consensus in light of the progress achieved within the framework agreement aimed at reaching a political declaration that would accomplish political stability, economic recovery and prosperity for Sudan and its people, as well as spare civilians the consequences of gun battles.

The GCC Secretary General underlined the firm position and decisions of the GCC regarding the importance of preserving the security, safety and stability of Sudan, protecting the cohesion of the state and its institutions, supporting Sudan in facing economic challenges, and achieving the aspirations of its brotherly people.

He lauded the international efforts of the tripartite mechanism (the United Nations Mission in Sudan, the African Union and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development), the quartet partners  (the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States of America and the United Kingdom), and the Group of Friends of Sudan, whose objective is to reach a consensus between the political parties in the country to end the crisis and promote security and stability in Sudan.

The GCC Secretary General called on all the conflicting parties to resort to dialogue and peaceful means to overcome differences, enhance the security and stability of Sudan and deliver on the aspirations of its brotherly people.
