Sharjah 24: Ahmed Al Zahid, the official spokesman for the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, revealed that the selection of Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem, former president of Al Azhar University and a member of the Council of Senior Scholars, as the Islamic personality of the award came after his great effort over the course of 50 years in the service of Islam and Muslims.
The activities of the 26th edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award were concluded, on Tuesday, at Expo Dubai, by honouring the top ten winners, and Professor Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem, the Islamic personality of the award.
Al Zahid stated that the choice of Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem, former president of Al Azhar University and a member of the Council of Senior Scholars, came after his great effort over the course of 50 years in the service of Islam and Muslims through his writings and television and radio programmes, as he was known for his moderate approach.
In statements to "Sharjah 24", Al Zahid thanked Dubai Expo City for hosting the award's closing ceremony, and media professionals from various TV channels and news websites for covering the award's activities, which lasted for 14 days, in which 60 contestants from different countries of the world competed.
