Sharjah 24: The twelfth edition of the annual Sharjah Ramadan Majlis opens Monday (April 3) under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council.
The Sharjah Ramadan Council this year, being held from 3 to 5 April, includes three engaging sessions with the participation of leading Arab and international cultural, artistic and sports figures. The audience will also have a date with Shrabani Basu, author of the book and now a hit Hollywood film "Victoria and Abdul." The author will sign copies of her popular book for the audience.
There will also be exciting contests testing the knowledge and interests of the audience, offering attractive prizes, in partnership with Sharjah Cooperative Society, Grand Stores and Lulu Supermarkets.
Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, said, “the Sharjah Ramadan Majlis constitutes a cultural and knowledge communication that allows a free exchange of views on most prominent issues and concerns of society through proposals by leading experts and leaders in various sectors. We are keen to be part of building a conscious social thought that looks at life positively and cognitively, year after year.”
The SGMB Director General added, "In this year's Ramadan Majlis, we look forward to keeping pace with the changes in sports that the region has witnessed in recent years. We have chosen topics that enjoy huge public interest and social engagement such as football, the movement of social networking sites, the content industry and creative production.”
Sports session – Focus on football
The first session, Monday, entitled "The Offensive and Defensive Line... Football between Results and the Pleasure of Performance" discusses the impact of training plans on football, the performance of players and their roles on the field, and the extent to which offensive and defensive forms of play reflect on club fans. The session features popular football stars Ricardo Kaka, former player on the Brazilian national team, the Italian club AC Milan and Spanish Real Madrid and Mohamed AlNeny, the star of the Egyptian national team and the midfielder of the English club Arsenal. Kuwaiti sports journalist, Meshari Al-Khazim, moderates the session.
Creators of Visual Content
On Tuesday (April 4), the session "Creators of Visual Content: Criteria for Success and Reasons for Continuity" presents important experiences in defining different cultures, analysing the reality and constants of the content industry and the mechanisms of its introduction on digital broadcasting platforms. Journalist Muhammad Al-Kaabi hosts an engaging dialogue with the content makers Adel Al-Adwani, Qassem Al-Hato, and Lulwa Al-Khataf.
Artistic Creativity
Wednesday (April 5) will witness an artistic session on the contribution of written material to the success of artistic works, and the integration between literary works, dramatic and cinematic scenarios, and acting performance.
The session entitled “Artistic Creativity: From Script to Performance” will feature Egyptian artist Ahmed Zaher, the British writer Shrabani Basu, author of the book “Victoria and Abdul”, and Mohamed Diab, the director of the “Moon Knight” series. The session will be hosted by Abdelsalam Al-Hammadi.
