District Health Officer, Dr. Abdul Hameed told media that at least four people lost their lives while 14 others were wounded in the blast. He said that the injured were shifted to the nearest government-run hospital where an emergency has been imposed.
A senior administrative official, Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Khoso said that the blast occurred when an improvised explosive device (IED), planted on a motorcycle, exploded in the Rakhni market area of Balochistan's Barkhan district.
He further said that the police have arrived at the site and cordoned it off while teams have begun collecting evidence from the site. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the blast.
President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi condemned the blast and stressed the need to speed up efforts for the complete elimination of terrorists. "Terrorists are the enemy of peace in Baluchistan and progress. Terrorists will never be successful in their nefarious plans," said Alvi.
Moreover, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the attack as he extended his condolences to the victims' families.
