Sharjah 24 – AFP: A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck off Hokkaido in northern Japan on Saturday night, the United States Geological Survey said, shaking coastal cities, but no tsunami warning was issued.
The quake had a depth of 42.9 kilometres (27 miles), the USGS said. Major Japanese media outlets carried no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
