Sharjah24: Simon Roberts, Albert Dros European photographers promoting verdant vegetation and craggy mountains in their exhibition at the International Photography Festival “Xposure.”
Simon Roberts is a photographer known for his photographs of the British landscape. He is based in Brighton in the UK, participating in the International Photography Festival “Xposure” with his exhibition called “Urban Parks, Green Lungs of the City”

Roberts stated that the idea crossed his mind after seeing statistics that showed half of the world’s population resides in cities nowadays, and it will increase to 70% by 2050.

As a result of the estimation, finding ways to make cities change their course to urban style is most likely a necessity.

The exhibition displays parks from over 20 cities across 3 continents, such as the English Garden in Munich, created in 1789, and Sherborne Garden in Toronto, opened in 2015. In an interview with “Sharjah 24,” he said that the parks provide an essential service to the citizens, connecting people with nature while living in an urban environment, and also important regarding climate change issues, the more vegetation the better for Earth.

Albert Dros is a 36-year-old professional landscape photographer from the Netherlands. His exhibition in Xposure is simply about Kyrgyzstan.

Why Kyrgyzstan you ask? Dros mentioned that a lot of people perceive Kyrgyzstan or any “stan” country negatively,  but he was dazzled the first time he saw the country which made him determined to change the world’s perception of Kyrgyzstan using his passion, photography.

Shot over a course of 6 years, His exhibition shows photos of Kyrgyzstan’s natural landscapes and nature, especially the mountains, like red mountains or green valleys, for it is a mountain-natured nation.

Dros stated to “Sharjah 24” that he didn’t want to focus only on Kyrgyzstan’s landscapes but also on the people. The country is not a metropolitan example like Tokyo or Paris, and the people are not wealthy; however, the lifestyle there is simple and relaxing, promoting the notion of breaking routine.
