Sharjah24 – AFP: The World Health Organisation director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says that one of its doctors has been abducted in Mali by "unidentified assailants from his car". "We're working with local authorities to investigate the abduction and insure our colleague quick return to his family. Health workers should never be a target" Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus adds during a press conference in Geneva.
Commenting on this, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO director-general stated, "We deplore the abduction of WHO colleague, Dr Mahamadou Diawara was taken by unidentified assailants from his car on 23rd January in the town of Menaka in northern Mali. We're working with local authorities to investigate the abduction and insure our colleague's quick return to his family. Health workers should never be a target."
