A total of 150 participants, selected from a pool of more than 450 applicants, will compete at the hackathon, powered by the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) and the ICT Fund of the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).
The hackathon challenge this year will focus on the sector of EDTech in partnership with challenge partner EDT&Partners. During the hackathon, youth will be introduced to the entrepreneurial mindset and modern, innovative thinking approaches, supporting and empowering young talents to make positive changes and create a future based on innovation.
For her part, Najla Al Midfa, CEO of Sheraa, said: "We are excited to host the SEF 2022 Hackathon in partnership with the ICT Fund and the TDRA. The hackathon is an important part of our efforts to support and empower Emirati youth to become the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators. We believe that through the hackathon, we can inspire and encourage participants to think creatively and come up with innovative solutions to real-world problems."
Eng. Omar Al Mahmoud, ICT Fund CEO, said: “We, at ICT Fund and TDRA, have many goals in common with Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center “Sheraa”, as we share an interest in supporting innovators and change-makers, and we empower young talents to make the change and create a future based on innovation.
This is reflected in many of ICT Fund’s projects, which aim to support knowledge and skills in the telecommunications sector, digital transformation, and the absorption of related technologies. Accordingly, we are pleased to sponsor Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival, and we hope that the goals of this event will be achieved through close communication and numerous workshops between creators, entrepreneurs and inventors from around the world.”
The SEF 2022 Hackathon is a unique opportunity for Emirati youth to gain valuable experience and skills in entrepreneurship and innovation. The event will provide participants with the chance to stimulate their entrepreneurial mindsets and come up with high-impact, ICT-inspired solutions to selected challenges.
