Sharjah24: Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chief of Sharjah Ruler's Office in Khorfakkan, and Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Ruler’s Office in Kalba, witnessed on Friday the launching ceremony of the 2nd Kalba Beach Games (KBG). Yasser Al Doukhi, Director of the Kalba Beach Games, revealed that about 2,000 players in 7 sports participated in the activities of the second edition of the tournament, which started on Friday, being organised by the Sharjah Sports Council.
The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Abdulmalik Jani, Vice Chairman of the Council, Chairman of the Organising Committee, His Excellency Dr. Obaid Saif Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of Kalba City, and a crowd of officials.
In exclusive statements to “Sharjah 24”, Yasser Al-Doukhi stressed that about 2,000 players are participating in the tournament, which includes 7 beach games, over seven days on the banks of Kalba Beach.
Underscoring the significance of the Kalba Beach Games in celebrating the emirate’s achievements, Al-Doukhi emphasised that the tournament coincides with Sharjah’s title as the capital of Arab sports culture.
Al-Doukhi added that the Kalba audience will enjoy the activities of this sports event, which includes different activities, competitions and prizes.
