Argentina's health workers demonstrate for better wages

November 09, 2022 / 9:15 AM
Sharjah24 – AFP: Argentine doctors, residents, nurses and health workers protest in Buenos Aires to demand salary increases and better working conditions. The inflation rate continues to rise and is projected to reach 100% this year.
Commenting on this, Carina Goya, resident in the Ramon Sarda Maternal and Children Hospital said, "This is our eighth week of struggle, our second week of an indeterminate strike. We are demanding a living wage for residents and a salary and insurance for unpaid interns."

"Argentina currently has an estimated inflation rate of 100%, and annualised inflation is going to exceed that. The increases we have achieved over the years have not been enough to cover part of that inflation, " Marcelo Acuna, doctor in the Santa Lucia Hospital added.
