Sharjah24 - WAM: Major General Dr. Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, INTERPOL President and Inspector General at the UAE Ministry of Interior, is presiding over INTERPOL’s 90th annual General Assembly in New Delhi, India.
Major General Al Raisi is leading the four-day INTERPOL General Assembly for the first time this year, after he was elected as President of the organisation during the 89th General Assembly in 2021 in Istanbul, Türkiye.

More than 700 delegates representing 160 of INTERPOL’s member countries are in attendance on the ground in New Delhi. INTERPOL counts 195 member countries in total.

The General Assembly, known as INTERPOL’s “supreme governing body”, is a yearly summit that brings together ministers, police chiefs, and senior law enforcement officials from across the world to shape INTERPOL’s policies, share the latest trends in policing, and promote international cooperation.

In his remarks at the annual conference, which was opened by India Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Major General Al Raisi spotlighted the consistent role of INTERPOL as a resource for law enforcement across the world, saying, “It is the job of INTERPOL to make sure that all countries are supported - no member country is too big, or too small. We must all be equally represented.”

Major General Al Raisi also highlighted the imperative for INTERPOL leaders attending the General Assembly to make decisive choices, saying, “The future of INTERPOL is decided in this room. And by proxy, the future of law enforcement. The voice of every single member will be heard. I look forward to our discussions. And with the work of all of our governance bodies, we will take the resolutions made here and put them into action.”
