Sharjah24: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, explained that the summit of Mount Dim was chosen instead of the Kitaba Mountain summit to establish a rest stop in the city of Kalba due to its accessibility, low cost of construction, and splendid view from above, which overlooks the sea and reveals the entire city, as well as the possibility of establishing facilities that include a sports forum, a camping hotel, and a refuelling station.
The Mount Dim Rest project will be a "gift to Kalba," according to His Highness.
"We had previously chosen the highest mountain peak in the city of Kalba to create a rest area, which is the Kitaba Mountain summit, with a height of about 1050 metres, but then we replaced it with the Dim Mount Summit, for many reasons, including the difficulty of reaching the Kitaba Mountain summit, not because it is very high, but, owing to the nature of the mountain, which necessitates the construction of costly bridges to provide access to it, and it does not overlook a view of the city of Kalba, but rather a number of mountains only," Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi said this in a telephone interview on Sharjah Radio and TV's "Direct Line" programme.
"When these challenges were revealed to us, we discovered that Mount Dim Summit is easily accessible, overlooks the sea and the entire city of Kalba, its temperature is low, and its height is 850 metres, so there is no difference between Kitaba Summit Mountain and the summit of Mount Dim Summit in terms of reaching the clouds, as the clouds are always at a height of 600 metres and collide with the mountains," His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah stated.
"Also, we discovered that we could not build any additional facilities on the Kitaba Mountain peak, while we will create an important hub consisting of a football field on a vast area, and a hotel to accept the teams who wish to camp," His Highness continued. Due to the low temperatures in the area, this rest will be an alternative tourist destination to Europe even in the summer.
His Highness further said, "Work on the design is now underway, and this entire project is a gift to Kalba." God willing, the rest place will be known for a "Sports Forum" and the fruits that will be growing there. The project will employ a new irrigation system that will take advantage of clouds using modern technology. For those who wish to live there, the area will also include an investment project.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah remarked, "We must be proud of our nations, and every individual must be proud of his nation and belong to the land he lives in." Land, like mother, embraces the human being in a "reverse" way: the mother carries the child in her womb before placing him on her back, whereas the earth carries him on its back before embracing him in its depths.
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, concluded his talk by saying, "We wish goodness and success for all, as well as stability and tranquillity for all countries, God willing, because God Almighty blesses people in all circumstances, even the most difficult circumstances." "We feel His benevolence around us, as well as His mercy that encompasses everything, as we notice the news currently ranging from floods to fires, earthquakes, and conflicts, and we thank God much for His favours and goodwill to His worshipers."
