Sharjah 24 – WAM: Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), affirmed that the entirety of UAE's achievements in women empowerment in all fields, especially in peace and security since the issuance of the United Nations (UN) Security Council Resolution No. 1325 in 2000, is the result of the UAE leadership's insightful vision.

She further explained that the worldwide recognition of the UAE’s endeavours and constant efforts to support women in the areas of peace and security is the result of decades of hard work by the General Woman’s Union in collaboration with federal and local entities, civil society organisations, and the private sector.

Sheikha Fatima said this in a speech delivered on her behalf by Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, CEO and Founder of Alliances for Global Sustainability and Co-founder of Aurora50, that was aired at the International Conference on Women, Peace and Security (ICWPS), which started on Thursday and will run until 10th September at the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi.
