Sultan Al Qasimi issues Decree Law on SFRA

Sharjah24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued Decree Law No. (3) regulating the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority (SFRA).
The decree-law stipulates that the headquarters of the authority shall be in the city of Sharjah, and by a decision from Sharjah Executive Council, it may establish branches or offices in the rest of the cities and regions of the Emirate.

According to decree-law, the authority aims to preserve and develop fisheries wealth and achieve food security, in addition to reviving the fishing profession, and supporting the local market by selling fishing materials at competitive prices.

The decree-law stipulates that the authority draws up general policies and strategic plans for the emirate, and proposes the necessary legislation and regulations related to the work of the authority, in addition to raising awareness of the importance of preserving fish wealth. The authority will work on concluding contracts, agreements, memoranda of understanding and partnerships after their approval, representing the emirate in local, regional and international conferences and meetings, and participating in all marine activities and festivals inside and outside the emirate.

The Authority shall have a Chairman who is appointed by Emiri Decree, assisted by a sufficient number of employees and experts in accordance with its organisational structure. The Chairman duties include proposing the general policy and strategy necessary to achieve the Authority’s objectives, supervising the workflow of the Authority in accordance with the legislation and regulations in force, preparing the annual budget and the final account of the Authority.
