Sharjah Ruler: 2024 is the year of Al Dhaid

Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, revealed that 2024 will be the year of Al Dhaid, and that a number of social studies and surveys have been conducted to provide decent life for the citizens of the emirate and to develop the emirate’s cities so that they match the Sharjah City model.
His Highness confirmed that the health insurance programme covers and includes all Emirati housewives mothers from the age of sixty and above, pointing out that the needs of this age group of male and female citizens are not limited to health aspects only, asking: Is the subsidy of the Government of Sharjah or the Ministry of Community Development sufficient to meet the living needs of this category?

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, during a telephone intervention via the 'Direct Line' programme broadcast on Sharjah Radio and Television, Wednesday, explained that he asked the Department of Statistics and Community Development to list the cases that need government subsidy and support. In response, the department provided data for the central region only so far, which included 800 cases, pointing out that it is unreasonable that the number of cases is only 800 out of 7-10 thousand people in the region. His Highness directed the department to search again for cases that need government support and subsidy, to count, register and reassure they are among the deserving category.”

His Highness  the Ruler of Sharjah stressed that the Department of Statistics and Community Development is currently working to provide data in every region and city in the Emirate of Sharjah, underlining the need to support and assist citizens aged sixty and above, so that they can face life's difficulties, and provide comfort to their children and grandchildren, thus strengthening family and community bonds, through continuous visits, and urging and encouraging them to do so by providing all their needs, pointing out that work continues to identify these cases and achieve this end.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, confirmed that the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah took a sample of cases of male and female citizens under the age of 60 and conducted studies on them. His Highness added, we conducted a social study on this age group, to find out their living conditions, we found out of the "non-employee" females “housewives”, aged 35-59, need health insurance and social support.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah elaborated that the Social Services Department has also conducted a study on the living needs of this category, and that a comprehensive decision will be issued in this regard, once necessary social studies and surveys have been completed.

His Highness pointed out that the studies will include the wives of retirees who are not covered by health insurance, to be provided with all their medication requirements, in addition to the category of widows who need full and overall care. He called on these cases to provide government departments with all data and information about them and to stay away from modesty. His Highness said: "The citizen has a right upon us and the country and the government, and that the issue is not a favour from us or the government."

His Highness stressed that the government deals with all social cases in need of government support and subsidy, in complete secrecy and through certain symbols, and that the names will remain strictly confidential. His Highness affirmed that work continues among all departments of the Sharjah government to conduct the necessary studies to achieve this end.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, confirmed that 2024 will be the year of Al Dhaid, pointing out that, in cooperation with the Australian Specialised University of Melbourne, work will soon be kick off to build a college of agriculture and another for veterinary medicine, in addition to a desert science centre and a veterinary hospital, within the new expansion of Al Dhaid University, adding that these buildings will be ready after 18 months, as these colleges and other colleges will be opened in 2024.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah expounded that the opening of Al Dhaid University comes after the opening of the University of Khorfakkan this year 2022, and Kalba University in 2023.

His Highness confirmed that the Kalba University area is a wonderful architectural masterpiece, and that the main road in the city includes the development of government buildings, in addition to the clock tower, the university and the Seashell Museum in the middle of the lake, which will be seen light soon.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah explained that the cities of the Emirate of Sharjah are shaped with their various buildings, and the spirits of their residents, from strengthening the bonds of friendship, kinship and various social relations, and spreading various sciences and knowledge, indicating the provision of many opportunities for young people in the emirate, by establishing many high-level facilities, according to the model of the completed city of Sharjah, so that the facilities, departments, institutions and services of the various cities of the emirate are upgraded, until these cities are completed according to the model of Sharjah.

His Highness revealed that there is a project to build a model of the House of Wisdom in the city of Khorfakkan, where the site of this cultural edifice has been determined, noting that there are different viewpoints regarding the appropriate location for the HoW in Kalba.
