Sultan bin Ahmed stresses need to develop media cadres

Sharjah 24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, stressed the need to continue developing media cadres and arming them with specialised expertise and competencies, praising the high rate of Emiratisation in the institutions affiliated with the Council, and directing to raise the percentage of Emiratisation in the affiliated senior leaderships to 100% of the board before the end of the year.
This came while Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed chaired, Thursday morning, the fourth meeting of the Sharjah Media Council for 2022, at the council's headquarters in Sharjah, during which a number of topics related to the various fields of media in the Emirate of Sharjah, ways to develop its institutions, various projects, and future and development plans were addressed.

The council discussed a number of topics related to the various fields of media in the Emirate of Sharjah, ways to develop its institutions, various projects, and future and development plans, based on the important roles of this vital sector and its direct impact on various developmental, knowledge, social, tourism, economic, investment and other fields.

Within the work of the General Secretariat of the Sharjah Media Council, the members were briefed on the file of the establishment of the Sharjah Film and Content Committee, and the need to follow up work in this regard in accordance with the directives of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

The committee will play an important part in preserving and developing the film industry and production in the Emirate, in addition to giving the opportunity for talents and specialists to work, innovate and produce, thus contributing to the development of the media work experience in the Emirate.

The meeting also followed up on the developments of the Sharjah Media Club project and the progress of work in it, in cooperation with the Sharjah Department of Public Works.

The Council listened to a number of reports from the various media agencies in the Emirate of Sharjah, their workflow, and the set of programmes and events that have been completed during the past period, as well as current and future plans to activate more diverse initiatives and activities.

The meeting dealt with the developments of Sharjah Media City (Shams), its media projects, business progress statistics for the first half of this year, as well as Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s projects, plans for new programmes and the most important events for the coming period.

The meeting also reviewed the details of preparations for organising the International Government Communication Forum Forum 2022, and the stages and developments of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau’s Sharjah Government Communication Award.

Present at the meeting were Dr. Khaled Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City "Shams"; Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority; Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau; Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority; Alia Al Suwaidi, Director of SGMB; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council;  and Hessa Al Hammadi, Assistant Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council.
