Sharjah 24 – WAM: This year, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) launched its sacrificial meat campaign in 57 countries, benefitting 1,484,432 people.
Since the first day of Eid Al Adha, the ERC has distributed sacrificial meat through its foreign offices and the UAE's embassies in a number of countries, in cooperation with charity and humanitarian organisations.

This year, the ERC has been keen to widen the scope of beneficiaries of its project worldwide to include more vulnerable people and families, especially amidst rising global meat prices.

The ERC implements its project abroad on an annual basis, as part of its strategy to enhance its cooperation and giving with friendly countries, especially those suffering from economic hardship.

Every year, the ERC distributes sacrificial meat to refugees and poor people in remote areas.

The ERC’s project covers 28 countries in Africa, which are Mauritania, Uganda, Egypt, Niger, Ethiopia, Benin, Comoros, Mali, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Togo, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Chad, Guinea, Gambia, Senegal, Cape Verde, Sudan, South Africa, Algeria, Mozambique, Rwanda, Nigeria and Tanzania.

In Asia, the project covers 16 countries, including Pakistan, Indonesia, India, Yemen, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, Thailand, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Syria, the Philippines, Kazakhstan and Bahrain.

In Europe, the project covers Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Armenia, Georgia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Turkey and Cyprus, in addition to Brazil and Colombia in Latin America.
