WAM participates in 21st meeting of GCC news agencies

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Emirates News Agency (WAM) participated in the 21st meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) news agencies, which was held virtually.
The meeting, which was attended by officials from the GCC news agencies and the General Secretariat, discussed the decision of the Supreme Council at the 41st and 42nd summits, in addition to the GCC secretariat’s recommendation to draft its 2023-2027 plan aimed at identifying the joint action priorities of news agencies.

The meeting also addressed several suggestions aimed at drafting the future of joint GCC media action covering the work of news agencies, which will help encourage media cooperation and the exchange of expertise.

Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of WAM, highlighted the importance of strengthening joint GCC media action to help drive the process of sustainable development and reinforce the community’s awareness, through releasing media content characterised by credibility and development.

He also called the meeting’s participants to take part in the Global Media Congress, which will take place from 15th to 17th November, 2022, in Abu Dhabi, thanking the representatives of GCC news agencies for participating in the meeting and welcoming their participation in the congress.

He then lauded their role in ensuring the sustainability of the media sector, which highlights the civilised image of GCC countries and their contributions to the progress and prosperity of the region.
