Sharjah24 – WAM: The General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) on Tuesday announced the launch of the Work Fitness Assessment Service on its website as part of its quest to offer world-class pension and social security services.
Hind Al Suwaidi, Head of Benefits Management Department, said, "This service allows a government or a private entity to submit a work fitness request to evaluate the employee’s health status by accessing the Work Fitness Assessment Service found on GPSSA’s website www.gpssa.gov.ae under the service category."

"Once GPSSA receives the request, all the required conditions are reviewed before being submitted to the concerned medical committee, who then diligently review the conditions and documents."

The insured must be employed and meet the conditions subject to the provisions of the Federal Pensions Law No. (7) of 1999 for the Pensions and Social Security and its amendments to be eligible to complete the service.

The required documents include a certified medical report approved by a UAE-based government hospital that does not exceed six months, a medical examination upon work appointment, a copy of a valid Emirates ID and a recent personal photo.

Once the insured’s case is presented to the concerned medical committee while they are employed, it decides the rate of disability or non-fitness.

If the committee issues a decision proving a total disability or a health-related condition that resulted in the individual being unfit to work, then no particular service period is required for the pension entitlement and the insured’s contribution to GPSSA becomes sufficient.

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention formed the medical committee and tasked it to decide on conditions of non-fitness or complete disability based on the provisions of the pension and social security law.
