Sharjah24 – Reuters: The iconic blue video game speedster is back for his second movie outing in 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2'.
The first film was released theatrically in February 2020 in the US and other territories. However, its global theatrical release was cut short by lockdowns caused by the pandemic.

Jim Carrey, who plays Sonic's nemesis Dr. Robotnik and attended the Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday (April 5), said "Let me just say, the thing that's different is they can actually see it in a theater. You know, that's kind of a wonderful thing when I think about it. I'm looking forward to being in a room full of people. You know, it's kind of the most important thing happening here, isn't it?"

When the trailer was released for the first film, fans of the games were horrified by the character design of Sonic, calling it "creepy". Paramount Pictures listened to the fans and redesigned the character before the film's release.

James Marsden plays Sonic's human sidekick Tom. Speaking at the premiere, he said "I think the fans were so great the first time around and kind of helping us figure out what this character should look like and we answered that call and I think they were really pleased to see that and now we get to sort of throw down the gauntlets and unleash the kid."

The second film introduces two more fan favorite characters from the games - Sonic's friend Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and enemy Knuckles (Idris Elba).

'Sonic the Hedgehog 2' will be released in the United States on April 8.
