World monuments go dark for Earth Hour

Sharjah24 – Reuters: The sustainability pavilion at the Expo Dubai 2020 world fair joined on Saturday Earth Hour in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, by switching off the lights.Earth Hour is an annual event where lights are turned off in major cities around the world to raise awareness of energy consumption and its impact on the environment.
Iran's capital Tehran switched off the lights on Milad Tower and Azadi Tower, two iconic buildings in the Iranian capital, at 2030 local time (1630GMT).

While Greece's most famous landmark, the Acropolis of Athens, was engulfed in darkness.

Paris’ best-known tourist attraction, The Eiffel Tower also switched its lights off.

In India, landmarks like India Gate war memorial in Indian capital New Delhi and Howrah Bridge in the eastern Kolkata city went dark to observe Earth Hour.

The global event, started in 2007, is organised by environmental group World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to push for action on climate.

London Eye and Parliament went dark for Earth Hour on Saturday night
