Nahyan bin Mubarak attends awards ceremony of KIDPA

Sharjah24 – WAM: Under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa International Date Palm Award (KIDPA), witnessed today a ceremony honoring the winners of the award in its fourteenth edition.
Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, was recognised during the ceremony as the "Personality of the Year" for his influential role in the field of palm cultivation and date production. Other awardees included participants from France, Oman, Jordan, and UAE.

Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, and Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) attended the awards ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak expressed his great appreciation for the founder and patron of the award, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for emphasizing the importance of the UAE being role model for the development of palm cultivation and date production in line with the values and principles established by the UAE Founding Father late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He also appreciated the support provided by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, in this regard.

The Director-General of FAO, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Abdul Hakim El Waer, FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, spoke high of the UAE's efforts in driving innovation in areas of palm cultivation and date production.

The ceremony was attended by ministers and senior officials from Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Syria, Libya, Lebanon, and Tunisia.
