The fun vibe of the live sketching session makes it an entertaining experience for the young ‘models’, the artist and the onlookers.
Salah Abuidrees, better known by his username - Salah Cartoonz, is attracting visitors at SHASHAH for his unique style that blends traditional caricature with an energetic comic style. Photographs can also be instantly transformed into playful characters in just 15 minutes!
“My goal is to bring out the individuality or character of each person by emphasising their most prominent features. What I enjoy most about sketching these cartoon portraits is the connection I get to make with the people,” says the artist who began drawing four decades ago, at the age of four.
“Anime and comics are what I grew up on, and I remain an ardent fan to this day,” he added.
Visitors can have their portraits sketched in the comic-cartoon mashup style or traditional caricature on canvas.
Organised by FUNN, a Sharjah-based organisation that promotes media arts learning among children and youth, SHASHAH is a playground of anime-themed activities and concludes today at Aljada, Sharjah.
