Sharjah 24 – WAM: Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, said that this year's International Women's Day comes on the threshold of a qualitative phase in the history of the UAE that celebrates its Golden Jubilee and paves the way for its next 50 years.
In a statement on the occasion of International Women's Day, Al Bowardi said, "Emirati women in the last 50 years have been able to prove their worth and achieve a distinct qualitative presence in all fields and areas of life. This has also directly contributed to the overall national development process in the country.
"What the UAE has achieved in terms of granting women their rights within a stable and well-established strategy that was laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has been reflected in every field that Emirati women contribute to with courage, energies and status. I say to every woman, your presence is hope and your success is pride.
"At the Ministry of Defence, we are proud of every Emirati woman, be it a mother, sister, wife or daughter. We are also proud of the ministry's military and civilian members alike and appreciate their sincere efforts and active contributions to the advancement of work in all defence and military sectors," Al Bowardi concluded.
