Sharjah 24 – WAM: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the National Federal Council (FNC), met with Naama Mayara, Speaker of the House of Advisors of Morocco, on the sidelines of the 11th Association of Senates, Shoora and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World Conference held in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
During the meeting, both sides addressed ways of strengthening their bilateral ties, the importance of enhancing coordination on issues of mutual concern and promoting mutual visits and exchanging expertise.
Several FNC members participating in the conference attended the meeting.
Ghobash highlighted the distinguished, historical and strategic ties between the UAE and Morocco, established by the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. These ties are developing further under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
He extended his appreciation for the invitation to attend the conference, stressing the crucial role of parliaments in strengthening relations between African and Arab countries.
Ghobash invited Mayara, who welcomed the FMC delegation, to visit the UAE and attend Expo 2020 Dubai, stressing the strong relations between the two countries.
Mayara highlighted Morocco's solidarity and support for the UAE against the Houthi attacks on civilian facilities in the country.
