Sultan Al Qasimi opens Sharjah Safari in Al Dhaid

Sharjah24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah opens Sharjah Safari, the world's largest safari outside Africa, in the city of Al Dhaid in Sharjah, in the presence of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has highlighted the importance of a number of the development projects being implemented in the central region, including the pastures, reserves, Al Dhaid Fort, which will open next week, and Al Bataeh Lake, which will be a distinguished tourist site in addition to being a water reservoir for the region, with hosting the international rowing competitions.  


During his speech on the inauguration of Sharjah Safari, His Highness has also underscored the significance of the Sharjah Sports City, which will be located on the Sharjah-Al Dhaid Road, including different facilities with organising various competitions and events.


His Highness has further highlighted the importance of preserving the names in the central region, being related to the environment of the region, by documenting the names of trees, dunes, wells and other names, to be handed over to the Department of Municipalities Affairs, Agriculture and Livestock Resources in Sharjah, for document preservation.


His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah also referred to the preservation of some natural desert areas, which will be enhanced through issuing Emiri decrees that contribute in preserving the environmental components of these desert areas.


His Highness stressed that the work on the Sharjah safari project has started five years ago, and was inaugurated today, with a cost of approximately one billion dirhams, stressing that the Sharjah Safari is an environmentally friendly place that contains various animals and plants in a prepared environment. The safari also contributes to providing jobs for the people of the region, as it has provided 300 jobs for young men and women in the region.


Stressing on the importance of the launched projects in preserving the emirate’s principles, values and traditions, with enhancing its authentic identity, His Highness indicated that the projects that will be implemented will also include other areas in the central region, such as the Mleiha area, with distinguished projects that preserve its privacy, pointing out that the projects will be far from the public housing.


His Highness also highlighted the importance of the interest in human beings in Sharjah, not only through providing education, culture and development projects, but also by following up their social conditions. He also  emphasised his personal follow-up to the file of retirees in the Emirate of Sharjah, lauding the retirees’ efforts and giving to their country.


At the conclusion of his speech, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah extended his sincere thanks to all those in charge of the Sharjah safari, including administrators, guides, engineers, experts and specialists.


Upon his arrival at the Sharjah Safari, His Highness drew the traditional curtain marking the official inauguration of the Sharjah Safari, which includes 12 different environments, and extends over an area of 8 square kilometres, in Al Bridi Nature Reserve in the city of Al Dhaid, being a natural and tourist landmark at the level of the United Arab Emirates and the region.


His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, in the presence of Sheikhs and the attendees toured all over the much-awaited Sharjah Safari Park, reviewing its 12 themed environments, each representing a region in Africa, and the life and terrain of the animals and birds that live in them.


His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah was briefed on the Sharjah Safari’s facilities and services, which enable visitors to enjoy exploring the wildlife of Africa in a distinctive way.


Sharjah Safari contains several areas that represent the real areas in Africa, including more than 50,000 animals of more than 120 species of animals that live in Africa, with planting 100,000 African trees, and the plants vary between local and African species.


Sharjah Safari offers its visitors an integrated experience to discover Africa and its islands.


The opening of the Sharjah Safari was attended by Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Advisor at the Sharjah Ruler's Office, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman for Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority , and Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qasimi, the Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah, Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah, and a number of senior officials of the Emirate of Sharjah and notables of the region.
