Countries to participate in the Championship, one of the largest and most important sporting events in Sharjah to enhance its regional and international presence, include Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Libya and Djibouti, in addition to the United Arab Emirates, the host country.
The UAE will compete with the Gulf Championship on November 19 and 20, then the Arab Championship on November 25, 26 and 27.
The Championship Higher Organising Committee was approved under the chairmanship of Abdul Malik Jani, Vice President of Sharjah Sports Council, Chairman of the Individual Games Committee; Juma Obaid Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club being the Vice President and General Supervisor; and the membership of Majid Al Muhairi, Member of the Board of Directors of Al Hamriyah Club (Championsip Director), in addition to the heads of the medical and technical sub-committees, referees, public relations and media representative.
On this occasion, Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council, expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, for generously sponsoring the tournament, and said that it is an important addition to the major sporting events held in Sharjah, which is ready to host different events, thanks to its distinguished infrastructure and high capabilities.
Issa Hilal Al Hazami added that marine sports receive special attention at the level of Sharjah, due to its wonderful coasts and Khaled Lake, which allows the audience to follow the Championship from all sides. He indicated that coordination will be at the highest level with the Al Hamriyah Club to organise an ideal version that will win the admiration and praise of all the participants from the Gulf and Arab countries.
Juma Obaid Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Hamriya Club, extended his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi for the generous sponsorship of the championship, stressing that efforts will be combined to turn the Championship into an event giving pride to Al Hamriyah and Sharjah. He concluded that the Championship will be a leap in all areas of sports, including hosting international tournaments, which reflect the bright side of Sharjah and the UAE.
