06 Mall offers free screenings for early breast cancer detection

Sharjah 24: In line with the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, held annually during October, 06 Mall in Sharjah, Alef Group’s first quality projects in the retail and entertainment sector, and the Emirate’s premier lifestyle destination organized an initiative for the early detection of breast cancer for employees and the visitors of the mall on Thursday 21st, in collaboration with the Pink Caravan. The initiative aims to encourage the public to undertake periodic self-examinations to detect the disease.
The event prospected a large number of visitors from women of all ages. In addition to examinations, and to achieve the objectives of Pink October in spreading health awareness of the risks of cancer, the initiative educated the visitors on the dangers of breast cancer and the best ways to protect against it by ensuring early and regular examination, which plays a vital role in the detection and recovery.

Issa Ataya, CEO of Alef Group, said: “International Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity to continue to educate the public about this disease, which threatens the health of not only women but men as well, although the incidence of it is somewhat higher for women. 

“The importance of such efforts is also to reduce the chances of contracting the disease and encouraging members of society to conduct periodic examinations to preserve the health and safety of all our citizens and residents in the United Arab Emirates."

Ataya pointed out that Alef Group always seeks to support the community by contributing to the awareness initiatives through its projects, including 06 Mall, and is always looking to contribute to providing the necessary support to spread the highest standards of awareness through community and health activities, that fall within its social responsibility.

These initiatives will also enhance the position of the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE - United Arab Emirates - in the field of healthy living. He also thanked the Pink Caravan for its efforts in correcting misconceptions about the disease and limiting its spread and reaching advanced stages.
