Sharjah24 – Reuters: A taping of the the Broadway musical about Britain's Princess Diana will premiere on Netflix October 1 before it debuts on the big stage.
"This really is more of a film, a proper film of this story. The camera angles we were able to get because there were no audience numbers are really stunning. And we're excited to sort of push the form here to try and do sort of a Broadway-film hybrid," said Roe Hartrampf, who portrays Prince Charles.
It's the latest big Broadway show to hit streaming services due to the global health crisis. Disney+ began streaming the hit musical Hamilton in 2020. And Tony award winning musical Come From Away streamed on Apple TV in September.
"Diana the Musical" was filmed without an audience, with nine cameras over the course of 4 days, which was both thrilling and scary for the cast.
The production chronicles Diana's courtship and marriage to Prince Charles -- all the way through to their eventual divorce.
"Diana the Musical" is now scheduled to open on Broadway November 2, 2021.
