As fires rage, French nature reserve on mission to save turtles

Sharjah24 – AFP: In the national nature reserve of the Maures plain, a "jewel of biodiversity" affected by the fires in the Var, southern France, scientists and volunteers try to save Hermann's tortoise, a rare and protected species.
Marie-Claude Serra, Conservation Officer at the National Nature Reserve of the Plaine des Maures said, "It is an ecological catastrophe within the human catastrophe that is also being played out today."

Commenting on this, the Conservation Officer at the National Nature Reserve of the Plaine des Maures added, "We are trying to do our best at our level to preserve this jewel of biodiversity and national heritage."
