Sharjah24 – Reuters: Floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in the southern Brazilian state of Sao Paulo destroyed streets and houses leaving at lest 1,546 families homeless.
At least 24 people since Friday, including eight children, public safety officials said on Monday (January 31). 54 firefighters and volunteers work to remove debris after a landslide caused by torrential rains in Franco da Rocha, Sao Paulo state. According to authorities, at least 18 people have died as a result of the rains in the state in recent days.
27 municipalities were affected by the heavy rains.Residents continue to search for missing people in streets buried by the landslide.
Sao Paulo Governor, Joao Doria, flew over the flooded areas on Sunday (January 30) and said he had authorised 15 million reais (42.79 million dollars) of emergency aid for the affected cities.
