Sharjah 24 – Reuters: Eyewitness video shows heavy rain and flash floods lashing the town of Cernobbio, one of many towns surrounding northern Italy's tourist hotspot Lake Como that was hit by extreme weather on Tuesday.
Extreme weather gripping northern Italy flooded the town of Cernobbio after storms battered the picturesque Lake Como, a popular holiday destination for tourists.
Video filmed by resident Angelo Cantarelli on Tuesday (July 27) showed a river filled with mud flooding the streets in debris in central Cernobbio, located by the famous Lake Como.
Residents were seen removing debris in front of a church as more than 60 people were evacuated after the towns surrounding the lake were hit by mudslides and floods.
The bad weather comes after a weekend of fires and hot weather in the south of Italy that were particularly devastating on the island of Sardinia.
