Sharjah 24: Her Excellency Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, chaired the third meeting of the Higher Committee for People of Determination (PoD) Services, which was held remotely to discuss several topics such as supporting inclusive education policy and following up the updates of the people of determination programs as per the plan of the year of the 50th, according to several indicators that promote the efforts of relevant authorities all over the UAE to rehabilitate, include and empower the people of determination in light of the centennial vision and development requirements of the next phase.
Her Excellency Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid was briefed by the representatives of federal ministries, government authorities and relevant entities about the latest services provided for people of determination, updates of the inclusive education policy of the Ministry of Education as part of the recommendations to complete and adopt the policy since it is directly related to the urgent needs of the people of determination in addition to the proposed e-connectivity project to facilitate and enhance the wellbeing services provided to these categories.
The meeting reviewed the Ministry of Education initiatives about inclusive education, challenges, solutions and proposals with relevant authorities through preparing a list of initiatives, action plans and required support by all the members, as well as the proposal of a new diploma named “Human Rights Diploma”.
It is noted that the formation of the Higher Committee for People of Determination Services was established by the Cabinet Decision for the year 2019, representing all federal ministries, government authorities and relevant entities to provide services for these categories. The Higher Committee for People of Determination Services seeks to provide the best services and cover the needs of the people of determination under a senior level authority to ensure the full performance of these services.
The Higher Committee for People of Determination Services tasks are concerned with the evaluation and assessment of the current reality and challenges facing people of determination, proposal of legislations, policies and initiatives, the implementation of all national policy plans and initiatives to empower the people of determination, adopting rules, guidelines and priorities that are related to the basic needs for the rehabilitation and welfare of the people of determination and ensure their inclusion in the community, adopting cooperation and coordination between people of determination and relevant authorities, reviewing the UAE report on the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and following up its recommendations, exploring the future and needs of people of determination and finding proactive solutions that promote the wellbeing of the people of determination.
