Sharjah Club inaugurates ‘Hamad Abu Shebas’ Ramadan championship

Sharjah 24: The Group Games Department at Sharjah Sports Club announced the launch of an annual Ramadan Handball championship for different age groups, bearing the name of the late Hamad Abu Shabas, the former administrator of Sharjah Handball.
Jassim Mohammed, a member of the Sharjah Club's Group Games Department, the supervisor of handball, revealed the details of the tournament that will be held from April 25 to May 1, and includes 34 players from the club’s age groupd who are allowed to practice sporting activity in accordance with the official health protocol from the higher and competitive authorities for the season 2020-2021.He added that the players were distributed over 8 teams. 

He explained that the organisation of the Ramadan championship came in fulfillment of the giving and commemoration of the late Hamad Abu Shebas.

He went on stressing that the Group Games Administration pays special attention to this tournament, which bears a dear name of Abu Shebas, based on which  organisers have formed various committees including an administrative committee, a medical and media committee, stadiums and transport committee, and a general coordinator for the tournament, in addition to technical supervision and follow-up for the participating teams by coaches of the club's age groups.

Mohammed added that  Ramadan championship also aims to provide the players with expertise through competition between the different groups who have been meticulously selected from the teams that are already training during the current season 2020-2021, in terms of technical and physical capabilities to avoid the possibility of injury, and to contribute to enhancing the spirit of competition during The blessed month of Ramadan, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic season.

The last day of the championship will witness a match between the game’s supervisors, coaches, former club players and administrators, in the presence of the players, with the precautionary measures being followed according to the club’s health protocol.
