Sharjah24 – AFP: Residents of the Colombian capital Bogota protest against the economic impact of measures introduced to stem the spread of the coronavirus, including a weekend lockdown. "We Colombians go hungry every time we close and go into quarantine," says one street vendor at the protest.
Commenting on this, Luis Suárez, trader pointed out, "The disease (Covid-19, ed.) is very terrible, we aren't denying that. I lived it, last year I was in bed for 15 days because of the coronavirus, but I'll tell you what's stronger than the disease: the economic crisis. Because if you're hungry you can't live."
July Salgado, another trader added, "They are not letting us work, we do not have help of any kind, we owe rent, we owe services, we have to pay employees, we really need them to let us work, that is the only thing we are asking for."
