Sharjah24: Sharjah Women’s Sports has announced the 13th edition of the Ramadan Tournament, from 20 to 24 of April this year, as an extension of the previous Ramadan Tournaments, previously launched in 2009 and have sustained great success over the past years.
The Ramadhan tournament consists of 3 different sports that include, Futsal that will take place in the court at SWS, Shooting that will take place in the shooting hall and karate well be online. All precautionary measures will be taken into account during the tournament period in order to ensure the safety of the participants.
Her Excellency: Nada Al Naqbi, Director General of the Sharjah Women's Sports Organisation, greets organisation's players and wishes them a blessed Ramadhan, advising them to maintain sport activities during this holy month, indicating the Organisation's keenness to pursue great success during this Ramadan tournament cycle, which has begun to build a great reputation for itself.
Nada Al-Naqbi said: “There are many strategies that we have always adopted on such special occasions for many years, based on the guidance of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, President of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Organisation, as Her Highness pays great attention to such beautiful events".
Nada Al-Naqbi added: "Our goal is for us all to be present in such an occasion, and that the Sharjah Women’ Sports seeks to achieve many positive aspects in the month of Ramadan, whether in terms of sports, health, or culture that has gained us a sports family that we have gotten used to over the years”
She stressed the point that these sporting events will take place amidst strict precautionary measures in order to protect everyone and implement the health protocol approved in the country, and said: “Sharjah Sports Council is our permanent strategic partner in this event, and our partners from the sports federations, the UAE Football Association, the Shooting Federation and the Emirates Karate Federation, and our supporters: Sharjah Broadcasting Corporation and Sharjah Government Media Office, Arada Company and the Neymar World Championship.
Her Excellency stated that the thirteenth edition of the Ramadan session will start with a virtual session with the presence of the journalist, Dr. Fahd Heikal, to discuss tolerance in sports, followed by the futsal championship, which will be held over the course of 3 days: 21st, 22nd and 23rd of April. Each team consists of 7 players, 5 on the field and 2 substitute players, the technical staff consists of a coach, an administrator, and a physiotherapist.
She said: "In the event that the number of participating teams is 4 playing the league system from one round, and if the number of teams is more than 4, it will be divided into a two-group system, once match time reaches 10 minutes, the first 3-place winning teams will receive medals and a cash reward."
In regards to the karate competition, Her Excellency added: "A virtual event will be held on Thursday, April 22nd, subject to the UAE Federation law and the rules for organising indoor tournaments. Matches are judged by certified referees, and are held over the course of one day. "
As for the shooting competition, Al-Naqbi explained: “The shooting game, pistol, and rifle 10 m, will take place over two days, the rifle on April 20th, and the pistol on April 22nd, the first place in each competition will get a medal and a cash reward, the tournament is subject to the rules and regulations of the International Federation and will be held over a period of 3 days, a day for training, two days for competition. "
Her Excellency added, "Apart from the sports competitions, there are cultural competitions that will extend until next May 14, throughout our social media outlets, starting from half-past eight in the evening."
Nada Al-Naqbi confirmed that the deadline for submitting the final participation forms to the organising committee is on Sunday, the 18th of April 2021.
