Scotland lockdown restrictions to continue until end of Feb.

February 03, 2021 / 8:31 AM
Sharjah24 – AFP: Scotting First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says that lockdown restrictions in Scotland will continue "at least until the end of this month."
Commenting on this, Nicola Sturgeon, Scottish First Minister said, "To get the virus more under control and so that we can prioritise every bit of headroom we create to get children back to school unfortunately we must all stay at home except for essential permitted purposes for a bit longer, at least until the end of this month."

Nicola Sturgeon also added, "I am afraid we will also have to accept that the price of greater domestic normality is likely to be for a period at least, not going on holiday overseas. These are not easy trade offs but they are essential as we continue our journey through and hopefully out of this pandemic."

She continued, "When we are are able to start the process of slowly easing lockdown, to give us all more normality in our day to day lives, we will have to accept that some mitigations like physical distancing and face coverings will be necessary for a while yet."

Concluding her statement, she pointed out, "One over riding lesson we have to learn from last summer is the danger of suppressing it here which we did so successfully and then allowing it to come back in. So that's why it is so important this time that we have much tighter restrictions in place. It is always going to be more difficult when we have got the border between Scotland and England if we are not taking the same steps in Scotland as in England. So we will continue to try to support a four nations approach to this as much as we possibly can."
