MoHAP sponsors Maudsley Health Conference as a supportive partner

Sharjah 24: The 4th Annual Maudsley Health Conference (a joint venture between the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust) has kicked off in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Yousif Al Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for the Hospitals Sector, Dr. Mona Al Kuwari, Director of the Specialised Care Department, Jo Fletcher, Managing Director, Maudsley Health, international experts, psychiatrists from Maudsley Hospital London and Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital in Dubai.
Maudsley Health Conference is held annually in conjunction with the World Mental Health Day which falls on October 10. The conference is providing updates on best practices and cutting-edge advances in the child, adolescent, and adult mental health services.

The event is featuring lectures and panel discussions with internationally recognized speakers.

Key Thematic Areas
The sessions and lectures of the conference have tackled the most important mental health topics including; social networking addiction, eating disorders due to psychological pressure, latest psychotropic medications, violence against mental health professionals, Alzheimer's and the obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Value-Added to the Mental Health Specialty
Speaking on the importance of the conference which is sponsored by MoHAP as a supportive partner, His Excellency Dr. Yousif Al Serkal said: “Maudsley Health Conference is undoubtedly representing a value-added to the mental health field and a global platform for sharing knowledge and local and regional experiences, discussing the latest practices in the mental health field and developing the capabilities and skills of those who deliver mental health services to patients.”

He added that the participation of mental health experts and senior clinical and academic practitioners would help enrich the value and outcomes of the conference.
Al Serkal emphasized MoHAP’s keenness on bolstering educational events and activities, especially those related to the mental health specialty.

This comes as part of the implementation of the National Mental Health Program to achieve patients’ social, psychological, professional empowerment, foster mental-health-related preventive and early detection programs and develop the community psychological services for children, adolescents and the elderly.

He also pointed to the importance of establishing local and international partnerships and rehabilitating medical and technical mental professionals.

This comes in line with the ministry’s strategy aiming to provide comprehensive and integrated healthcare services in innovative and sustainable ways, as well as to achieve the National Agenda 2021 in terms of building an efficient health system as per international standards.

A Platform for Exchanging International Experiences
In turn, Jo Fletcher, Managing Director, Maudsley Health, said: “We are pleased with MoHAP’s sponsorship of the Maudsley Health Conference for the second consecutive year.
