Sharjah24 – Reuters: Japan confirmed the first case of infection from the new China coronavirus that has killed one person and prompted a travel alert from the U.S. State Department.
A man in his 30s from Kanagawa prefecture, next to Tokyo, tested positive, Japan's health ministry said in a statement on Thursday (January 16). The man had been to the Chinese city of Wuhan, where there has been an outbreak of pneumonia believed to be caused by the new coronavirus strain, it said.

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yoshihide Suga said it has not seen any continuous human-to-human transmission of the new coronavirus but Japan will steadily implement quarantine in a thorough manner.

The Japanese patient returned from Wuhan this month with a fever and was hospitalised. He was released on Wednesday (January 15) after the symptoms subsided, according to the health ministry statement.
