Sharjah24 – Reuters: Tunisian students held a climate strike on Friday (November 22), a week before the 'Fridays for Future' climate strikes are due to begin for their second year.
Young activists in the Tunisian capital joined Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg's call for global action ahead of COP25 scheduled to be held in Madrid in December.

Organisers say they decided to go on strike, skip school and sacrifice their education to send a message on the dangers of climate change.

Participants said their demands for a 'breath' of clean air and 'saving the planet' should motivate parliament to issue legislation that protects their future.

COP25 comes amid calls for swift action from environmental groups and climate protesters, with recent scientific reports urging sweeping measures to keep global temperatures from rising more than 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Thunberg has led a high-profile global climate strike movement to focus attention on global warming.
